CV Show 2009 - six months to go and looking good

Six months since record numbers of visitors attended the 2008 Commercial Vehicle Show, on-line registration is already open for free entry to the 2009 event. And with six months to go before the doors open on 28 April, over 350 exhibitors have booked stands covering more than 70,000 square metres of the NEC Birmingham.

'This is further proof, if proof were needed, of just how successful the Commercial Vehicle Show has become,' said Road Haulage Association Chief Executive, Roger King.

'2009 will be the Show's 10th anniversary. When the Show Partners (the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the Institute of Road Transport Engineers) made the decision to amalgamate their three separate events, we knew that we were on to a winner; not just for ourselves but for the industry as a whole. The CV Show is now the only transport show in Europe that is run BY an industry FOR an industry.'

With the accent firmly on reducing operators’ running costs and caring for the environment, exhibitors will be presenting the very latest in transport, distribution and logistics equipment and systems. Go to www.cvshow.com to register now.

If your business is freight transport, then the 2009 Commercial Vehicle Show is THE place to go. If you mean business, you just can't afford to miss it.

The CV Show will be held from 28-30 April 2009. It is owned by the CV Show Partnership, comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), a professional sector of the SOE (Society of Operations Engineers). Municipal 2009 on target for growth

The pace of development of transport-related municipal services will be underlined next year when Municipal 2009 opens on 28 April at the NEC Birmingham.

As a key zone within the Commercial Vehicle Show - the UK’s number one transport and logistics event - Municipal offers so much more than a specialist sector show. The CV Show is the ultimate supermarket for municipal authority buyers, providing every need from tyres to lubricants, maintenance equipment to logistics systems and software, as well as vehicles of all weights and sizes.

Many exhibitors from previous years have already booked with Dennis Eagle, Farid, FAUN, Geesink Norba, Heil and Zoeller returning for the fourth year running. Underscoring the success of Municipal, space in the dedicated hall is almost sold out with five months before the doors open - much of it to new exhibitors - with only a couple of stands remaining.

Norman Thoday, Managing Director of Dennis Eagle Ltd said, 'We have been attending the CV Show for the last three years and have seen it go from strength to strength. The introduction of the municipal hall was - and still is - a twofold success. Manufacturers prefer being part of a dedicated area, as opposed to being placed next to a stand belonging to a completely different industry. And when time is money, it enables our visitors to optimise their time at the Show'.

For the second year running, leading truck manufacturer MAN Truck and Bus UK has a specialist stand to showcase a range of its specialist vehicles.

According to Andrew Young, Defence and Government sales manager at MAN, 'Having a separate stand in Municipal 2008 presented a great opportunity to show our dedicated offering, as a result of which we have seen sales grow strongly. We are repeating the exercise in 2009 to underline our direct commitment to the great many specialist vehicle markets in which we operate, including those within local and central government.'

Municipal 2009 takes place 28-30 April 2009 at the NEC Birmingham and full details for exhibitors are available from sales@cvshow.com or by calling Crystal Communications on +44 (0)1634 261262.

Get in the zone with IT and Telematics

If you have an IT or telematics problem, then Hall 4 of the 2009 Commercial Vehicle Show will give you the solution. From journey planning and logistics management to office software, the leading names, including Blue Tree Systems, Cybit, Globalive, Isotrak, Minorplanet and TomTom Work, will be displaying and demonstrating the very latest in systems and load management software solutions with a view to saving operators' fuel and time on the road.

For the first time at the CV Show, over 30 suppliers have chosen to exhibit in a specialist zone in Hall 4, to ensure that visitors spend maximum time on stands and less in the aisles, searching for the right IT and telematics providers. This is a key move for the Show as few know more about optimisation of time than these expert companies.

Graham Gordon of Cybit said, 'It is a familiar concept to us as it is widely used in Europe. The IT Zone provides an opportunity for operators to benchmark the whole market at one time, particularly in light of the convergence of fleet management and telematics software dedicated to reducing costs in the transport and logistics sector.'

According to the organisers, a small number of stands are available in Hall 4 which also encompasses the Workshop Show, a dedicated area for garage and body shop equipment and passenger car and commercial vehicle components.

New exhibitors wishing further details should contact Crystal Communications on 01634 261262 or email sales@cvshow.com.

The event will be held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham from 28-30 April 2009. It is the fastest growing and most successful business to business event of its type in the UK and mainland Europe, with free entry available across the three day exhibition.

The Commercial Vehicle Show is owned by the CV Show Partnership, comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), a professional sector of the SOE (Society of Operations Engineers).

Be there, be Cool

The Cool Pavilion at the 2009 Commercial Vehicle Show will be a better place to do business. Even in the tough economic times, the food industry is doing better than most other sectors. The industry depends on road transport to deliver its success and much of that involves refrigerated or temperature-controlled vans, trucks and trailers.

Many of the firms that make those temperature-controlled vans, trucks and trailers have already signed up as exhibitors in next year's Cool Pavilion, along with the growing number of firms offering supporting products and services. This will make this part of the CV Show a magnet for its business visitors.

The IT and Telematics Zone is also set to do well as firms in these sectors report growing demand for their services. The ability to deliver consistent increases in all aspects of transport efficiency is even more important when the going gets tough.

Since 2000, when the IRTE Show, TipCon and the Commercial Vehicle and Bodywork Show combined their resources, the CV Show has helped more than 1,200 exhibitors and nearly a quarter of a million visitors to meet and do business at Birmingham's NEC. And it looks as though 2009 is continuing the trend, with advance exhibitor bookings already on a par with this year, when the show bought in over 28,000 business visitors.

With six months to go before the doors open for the tenth Commercial Vehicle Show from 28-30 April 2009, you can be certain that your visit will be well worthwhile. In today's financial climate, it's a vital opportunity that you really cannot afford to miss.

More space for Handistep at CV Show 2009

Since its launch to the UK market in 2001, Handistep has gone from strength to strength and with safety as one of the 'big issues', it is now recognised as an OEM approved key safety-related product for the light commercial van market.

'The CV Show is THE place to exhibit as far as we are concerned', said Handistep's Design Consultant, Mike Wood. 'Such has been the company's success at the Show in previous years that next year we will have a 10x9 metre purpose-built stand which will enable us to demonstrate vehicles with Handistep fitted. It will give prospective buyers and fleet operators the perfect opportunity to try out Handistep for themselves and discuss the features and benefits of this unique product.

Designed to offer anti-slip, self-cleaning treads mounted onto a strong metal frame, Handistep has a full width safety step for operatives loading roof mounted equipment as well as loading in/out of high roof vehicles. This is an area which has become even more important since the introduction of the Corporate Manslaughter Bill, particularly the section covering 'Relevant Duty of Care' whereby fleet managers must carry out a full risk assessment covering safe loading and unloading of equipment as mobile workshops are now regarded as the operative's place of work.

'We are really looking forward to next year's CV Show', concluded Mike Wood. 'It provides the industry with the perfect shop window dedicated to what must be the UK's most vital industry sector. In addition, it does a fantastic job of attracting new customers from the UK and Europe and gives us the opportunity to exhibit what is now regarded as an established safety-related product.'

Such was the success achieved by telematics specialists GlobalLive at the 2008 Commercial Vehicle Show, the company has taken the wise decision to more than double its stand space at next year's Show.

Since incorporation in July 2005, GlobalLive Limited has gone from strength to strength, developing and implementing a growing portfolio of vehicle tracking, fleet monitoring and management solutions. It is now well established as one of Europe's leading telematics solution providers. In just two short years, the company has made a significant impact upon a global marketplace, achieving excellent levels of profitability from year one.

GlobalLive offers track and trace products which integrate fully with multi-level back office systems. GlobalLive now services over 1,000 customers, with more than 15,000 units operating in the field.

'We attended the CV Show for the first time this year, with excellent results,' said GlobalLive Director Dr David Clayton. 'Four months on and we're still bringing in orders from companies who visited us for the first time in Birmingham. In fact we actually signed up over £250,000 worth of business on the stand during the exhibition! We are looking forward to next year's Show and have already put in our request for a substantially larger stand to accommodate our fast-developing product portfolio.'

Show organisers are delighted that at 1 August, over 269 exhibitors have made firm bookings, representing well over 30,000 square metres of exhibition space. 'This is tremendous news,' said Show Manager Tony Young. 'It proves beyond doubt that despite the dire economic climate all sectors of industry are currently facing, the commercial vehicle sector remains confident of its future as a key player within UK plc.'

Think you're cool? Visit COOL 2009 and find out!

Since its first appearance as the Cool Pavilion '97, COOL 2009 again promises to be the largest single display of refrigerated transport equipment and vehicles in Europe. COOL returns to its traditional CV Show home in hall 3a of the NEC Birmingham, from 28-30 April 2009, creating a unique meeting place for reefer and cold store operators.

With more than nine months to go, leading players such as Frigoblock, Krone, Paneltex, RVL, Schmitz Cargobull and Solomon have already booked their space and will be showing the latest developments in the sector.

The first specialist sector in the Commercial Vehicle Show, COOL was praised by visitors in research conducted after the 2008 Show, as explained by Tony Young, CV Show manager.

'In common with our other specialist sectors, COOL scored highly with 86% of respondents rating it excellent, very good or good,' said Tony. 'Our return to halls 1-5 of the NEC for the next three years means COOL will have a permanent home in the heart of the CV Show halls, ensuring visitors with specific interest in cold chain distribution know just where to look, before viewing the diverse content of the rest of the CV Show.'

Show organisers are delighted over 40% of the available space is already booked, just one month after CV Show 2009 details were sent to potential exhibitors. There is a real possibility that 2008's success will be repeated when the Show sold out well before it opened.

The CV Show will be held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham from 28-30 April 2009. It is the fastest growing and most successful business to business event of its type in Europe, with free entry available across the three day exhibition.
