MTS sees new HYVA Hooklift fleet deliver ‘very significant operating improvements and cost efficiencies’

Providing the road transport requirements for a new contract with Southern Water, leading environmental contractor MTS Cleansing Services is introducing a brand new fleet of sixteen DAF 8×4 rigids fitted with top specification Hyva hookloaders.
MTS Contracts Director Steve Gilson says the new trucks are already delivering ‘very significant operating improvements and cost efficiencies.’
A first-time customer for Hyva, the principal reasons for MTS choosing the Dutch-made hookloaders were speedy build, simplicity of operation, comprehensive service support, and outright value.
“Individually, Hyva leads every area, so as a package it’s simply unbeatable” says Steve.
Mounted on 360hp DAF 8×4 CF chassis supplied through DAF main dealer Channel Commercials of Ashford, MTS’s hookloader specification also includes the hydraulically controlled Hyva AutoSheet and PM Onboard’s advanced TruckWeigh axle overload protection system.
With the mainstay of the MTS business being the provision of liquid waste services to water companies, utilities, large construction companies and local authorities, this latest venture into large scale handling of solid waste marks an important development in MTS’s ‘full service’ capability. Working on a major contract with Southern Water, the Hyva hookloaders are primarily employed on the movement of sewage cake between various sites in Kent, Sussex and Hampshire, as well as its ultimate delivery to farmland as fertilizer.
“This new area of business represents a substantial development of our company portfolio, along with the opportunity to create a significantly wider skill set among our people” confirms Steve Gilson. “It’s a project that we are all very excited about, which has significant potential for the future. As such, we’ve made absolutely sure that the trucks working the contract are the most reliable, cost-effective and safest that we can devise.”
Long proven for its electrics – free reliability in any operating environment, the Hyva hookloader platform is also highly regarded both for for its rugged durability and simplicity of operation. With the Hyva AutoSheet system also specified, MTS drivers have an easy to use, robust and highly versatile sheeting system that can accommodate almost every type, length and width of container.
Similarly, PM Onboard’s TruckWeigh axle overload protection system (for which Hyva is the sole UK distributor) maximises payload potential within current 32 tonnes gvw operating legislation.
Speaking for Hyva, managing director Tony Davies is obviously very pleased to have won such a significant piece of new business, commenting “What stands out here is that a major, highly professional operator such as MTS carefully considered all its options before deciding that the breadth and depth of the Hyva package was simply unbeatable.
Working closely with DAF dealer Channel Commercials, we are delighted to be able to support MTS not just with our products but also our long term service capabilities too.”
