Supporting fleets through the transition to cleaner vehicles

CPD is one of the few UK converters with type approval for 4.25T electric chassis. While we continue to meet the needs of customers operating traditional ICE vehicles, we also support operators preparing for the UK’s transition to zero-emission vehicles. Around 10% of our current output is EV-based, a figure that continues to grow as more fleets look for practical ways to meet sustainability goals and government strategy requirements.

Our approach is pragmatic: EV conversions must be functional, durable and suited to the real-world duty cycles of commercial customers. We work closely with OEM partners to ensure payload balance, structural integrity and Type Approval standards are maintained across electric platforms, allowing operators to integrate EVs without compromising capability.

A recent example is our bespoke solutions for MEV, designed specifically for dense urban environments. Compact, quiet and optimised for stop–start operation, the vehicle demonstrates how EV platforms can be applied effectively for waste management, parks, utilities and other local authority roles where low emissions and high manoeuvrability make a measurable difference.
