Fleet technology leader takes bold step toward sustainable events by neutralising 265 tonnes of CO₂

July 2025, UK - Lightfoot, the fleet technology specialist, has offset the carbon emissions of every one of the 13,000 attendees at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show, held at Birmingham’s NEC in April.

Throughout the three-day event, Lightfoot installed interactive carbon footprint calculators that allowed visitors to input their journey details, including distance travelled and vehicle type. From this data, Lightfoot calculated an average of 17.7kg of CO₂ per person totalling 265 tonnes of carbon emissions across the show.

In partnership with global reforestation initiative Evertreen, Lightfoot has funded the planting of nearly 300 trees in Madagascar, fully offsetting the emissions generated by showgoers’ travel.

“Decarbonisation is the ambition of nearly every commercial vehicle fleet operator we speak to,” said Paul Hollick, CEO of Lightfoot. “We support fleets through electrification, improved driving efficiency and offsetting. Working with the CV Show organisers demonstrates how collaborative efforts can lead the commercial vehicle sector toward a Net Zero future.”

Nick Davison, Event Director at the CV Show, echoed the sentiment “Our partnership with Lightfoot reinforces our commitment to sustainability not just for the event, but across the industry. Next year’s CV Show will focus even more heavily on decarbonisation and smart solutions to help fleets limit their environmental impact.”

This initiative reflects the growing momentum behind sustainability in commercial transport and highlights how even large-scale industry events can adopt practical steps toward carbon neutrality.
