Chris Thorneycroft-Smith is a seasoned leader in the commercial vehicle and clean transport sectors, with over five decades of industry experience. He served as CEO of IVECO for Northern Europe, UK and Ireland from 1990 to 2007, following his successful launch of DAF Trucks in the UK. His career has consistently focused on driving market growth, building strategic partnerships and accelerating innovation in transport. He was Business Development Director at Modec Electric Vehicles during a pivotal time for early EV adoption, and later served as a Non-Executive Director at Gasrec (2014–2021), supporting the business through a critical phase of alternative fuel development. He has also contributed as a Board Member of the Freight Transport Association (Logistics UK) and continues to support future industry leaders as an industry ambassador at Brunel University London. Today, he advises across the sector on sales strategy and market engagement, bringing valuable insight into fleet operations, OEMs, leasing markets and the evolving regulatory landscape. His extensive networks and strategic foresight make him a trusted voice in the transition to cleaner commercial transport.
